Do radiology technicians have to work holidays such as Christmas?

Or can they request time off on Christmas? My brother will be graduating this year as a radiology tech. Our family is big on Christmas. Would he have to submit a request as soon as he starts his job? Or use his vacation days on Christmas?

Depends on whether you’re working in a hospital or an office. In a hospital, you would have to pitch in and you may end up working on holidays…usually this follows a rotation where everyone takes turns…

If you work at an Orthopedist office for example, they will likely be closed on holidays and you won’t have to work !

    Good luck.

Just like what the first poster says. It depends on where he works. If the place he works at is open on Christmas like a hospital then he will have to work because hospitals are open 24/7 and they need radiology techs there all the time for x rays. Clinics on the other hand or closed holidays. Hospitals to pay the most so your brother should put in for Christmas off as soon as possible.

At a hospital you will generally rotate on and off the major holidays – sick people need x-rays for christmas!

In an office setting, you will most likely be off.
