What is the correct way to say “happy new year”?

I have been seeing all kinds of comments saying happy new year one of three ways: ” Happy new year”, “happy new years”, or “Happy new year’s”. Which one is the correct one?

Happy new year is the best. “Happy new years” means to have many happy years to come. “Happy new year’s” is possessive on the year, which means the year owns something.
