What do you make for Thanksgiving if you or your parents weren’t born in the United states?

I know many Latin Americans in the US, besides making a turkey, make roast pork or prepare a turkey with the same spices they use to bake pork. The Italian Americans will also make a lasagna. If you are an “ethnic” and are from the US what kind of dishes do you bring to the table on Thanksgiving Day besides traditional Thanksgiving fare?
Let me be a bit more specific: This question is for people who live in the Republic of the United States of America

    But my boyfriend’s family, also Latinos, makes fajitas.

    I am Canadian,, French Canadian, from Province of Quebec, the rest of Canada dont eat like us..

    We having soooooooooooooooooo many kind of SUPER GOOD FOOD …myself I do prefer to cook ONE OR 2 NICE CHICKEN THAN TURKEY (HARD MEAT) DRY MEAT..

    Very nice pot of PORK, VERY WELL CARAMILIZE..oignions cooked in a pressere cooker.. is the best…meat melting in a mouth… cook potatoes brown in the broth with carrots as well… In Quebec we having super good pork,, we dont have this pork in part of Westside of Canada..not the same at all.

    If you like fish ,, fruits fish,,, scampies with nice rice and vegetable…
    What is the best is always the taste of people with eat with you…and yoursssssssssssssss….

    About sugar pie,,, with brown sugar,,,do you know what it is… geee Westside of Canada dont know., dont do…here in West people living like AMERICAN PEOPLE, NOT LIKE CANADIAN.. I am born in Province of Quebec 40 years there and about 17 here in B.C. CANADA..

    So, be yourself and make what you like the most,,,you will get a success..

    If you receiving: you can have 2 kinds of preparation such as:
    Chicken
    Pork
    Beef….I do cook most of the time in rpressure cooker,, hard meat..

    If you want a very good taste and flavorfull of chicken meat:
    I cook it in oven this way:”

    I boil very hot water first and than poor hot water on the chicken and after I do rub chicken with oil, salt paper, milk ,

    WHAT MAKING the chicken tasting so good , is the fact you poor very hot water over..and see what’;s happening,,

    When you poor hot water ,, your chicken is becoming like just fresh ,just killed chicken, because it’s redressing back as alife life…all the stomack up and leg coming up back..this is a strange how thing changing the meat,,,because the fact we already boiling the chicking doing that way…the juce is coming up too and going back slowing in the meat when cooking…IT’S REALLY WORTHED TO TRY IT., YOU WILL ALWAYS DOING THAT AFTER…bigggggg difference in taste…(hooo inside your empty chickin before cooking add flaver such as salt and ppper ..sometime for more taste i do make a preparation of ground beef (like mixt grounded meat and insert inside)

    Sit the chicken of a mixed of vegetable at the button of the roster pot…and sit the chickin on it..and cook at: 450 F 20 minutes with pre-heated oven… and poor broth over when cooking..than finish to cook at 350 f untill well cooked,

    the nest of vegetable is made with: slises and cut: oignons, mushum, all green vegetable a bit of everything you get in the fridge,, I use vegetable part are less nice,, because I will keep only the broth for (will strain it) to make sauce…and greavy super tasty ..

    The meat of the chicken is soooooooooo tender, it’s melting in the mouth and super tasty..

    The skin becoming very shiny and crispy and soo tastefull..

    Humm if you dont eat it., use it to make broth,,

    ok desert : cream fresh 35% mounted and hard with fruits mix in it…any kind you like…

    Geezzz you ‘ll like it…if you want the : sugar receipy,, sooo easy:

    In a medium pan (deep a bit: poor 2 cups of brown sugar
    (I prefer light brown sugar,, in and mixe 2 table spoon of flower, mixt with the brown sugar.

    than add 1/3 or 1/4 of 35% fresh cream, and pinch of salt..

    Cook on the stove to mix it well…and stir occasionnally…
    Dont let it over cook,, whenyou see, it’s boiling it’s enough.
    You stop it and poor the pan aside to get it cool..

    than use a pastry (pie) you can buy it, if you dont know how to make it.

    Than on the pastry..poor on the: sugar coolled..
    Myself i put again over the sugar an other pastry..on the top and cook it in over : low shelf in the oven,, and 450 for 20minutes..(check it close) you will see when it ‘s ready

    For a nice looking of the top pastry, before putting it in the oven, wash it with: milk and white egg mixt and tiny bit of oil mix …myself I do spray my pastry..with that mixt…it’s better..sooooo shiny, soooo looking nice and sooooo tasty..

    anyways.. its not all about what “kind” of food you serve, its about Thanking God for surviving in the extreme wilderness of that first winter.. You can serve whatever foods you and your family like. Just get together and enjoy each others company
