I dont know why, but I think you need candles all over the place. I think you should make it look like camping, but have it inside. Move the furniture. Set up a little area with a tent like the four bedroom one and set up like four beds inside the tent. Outside, you can have the patio set up with candles and a grill and you can have a big barbecue. You can tell ghost stories and play campfire games inside. The invite could be camping related. Good luck!
