Our Christmas tree is dying at an alarming rate with 4 days left to go. Any ideas to make it last?

I’m not sure what kind it is; it has short needles. The ornaments are dropping to the floor with a shower of needles landing on top of them; the tree skirt is completely covered! If I move it, I’m certain it will resemble Charlie Brown’s Christmas tree. Anyone know of anything I can add to the water, or is it just too late? Branches are beginning to droop as of this morning, in spite of it having had a fresh cut just prior to putting it in the stand and being watered daily. Help!

hmm…I don’t know of anything you could do for it. you must have gotten it pretty early in the month for it to be dying on you so quickly now. if your watering it, then i don’t think there’s anything else to do. sorry I couldn’t help

I would recut the bottom and go to home depot or somewhere and buy some tree conditioner. Hopefully that will work.

drill holes part way through the trunk below your water line for absorption…and add either sugar or sprite to your water.

Make a two to three inch vertical cut in the base of the tree so it can absorb the water in the pan. Fill the water to cover the cut. Keep fresh water in the pan.

you don’t need to drill cut or do anything but add sugar. I think it is too far gone. I would make a joke out of it. Call it your Charlie Brown tree. In a few years it will be your funniest memory.

YOU MAY BE TOO LATE TO DO ANYTHING—–BUT YOU MAY HEAL IT SYSTEMICALLY THRU A SURFACTANT …HAND DISH WASHING SOAP IS EXTREMELY HIGH IN SURFACTANTS …ADD ABOUT 2-3 CAP’S FULL OF THIS TO NEARLY FULL HOLDER AT BASE …ALSO HEAT FROM A REGISTER COULD BE EXCESSIVELY DESACATING(DRYING OUT) YOUR TREE…

Dead is dead! You can’t reverse the trees death and you can’t make it not be dried out, therefore it is a serious fire hazard. Get rid of it ASAP and buy a new tree. Nothing is worth risking a fire.

drop an aspirin in the water

Have you checked the water? It’s possible the tree drank it all. That happened to us once. Merry Christmas.
