How To Keep Your Kids Busy While Your Wrapping Christmas Gifts?

I’m looking for ideas of what to do with the kids while wrapping Christmas Gifts. When I was younger, my mom bought my brother and I a JUMBO activity book while she was wrapping gifts. I loved it and it kept us busy and out of her way. Any other ideas?

Well, if they go to school, you could do some then and if you have time on christmas eve, get them to bed and wrap the rest then, it saves time really. 🙂

    Hope this helped!

If you loved the activity book so much, why don’t you get one for your own kids? Or wait until they’re in bed.

In my home, our “santa” gifts were never wrapped. Only those from mom or dad were wrapped (like 1 or 2). This could save you tons of time and wasted wrapping paper.

Make up a game or two.We used to do a Christmas themed Memory game. We made our own cards using index cards and big Christmas stickers (candy canes, trees, presents, etc.).

Activity books, coloring books, Christmas dvds for them to watch, wait til they go to sleep

I always wait until my kids are sleeping. I also wrap as I buy so I don’t have as much to wrap at one time and I am not wrapping forever.

Do it when they go to sleep at night.
Thats what I always do. I have some hot chocolate and take my time and enjoy wrapping the presents. if they’re up you have to rush and it’s not fun that way.

Movies, tv specials.. Get them a book to look at. Do you get christmas magazines? Toy magazines? Give them different coloured markers and have them circle what they want with that marker. You could also send them off to another room with a couple presents they will give to you, to wrap, if they are old enough, it will take them forever with such care.. depends on theyre age. Activity book is good.

The smartest thing to do, is when they are at school, but if they are little then my mom used to always lock herself in the bathroom, or closet (hers was really big).

Wait until they go to bed. Or, have your husband take them out for ice cream, to the library, the park, a movie, or something cute. Let them have a “Daddy & Me Day” or an “Auntie/Uncle and Me Day” because I know my dad was always working.

Also, just letting them run around in the backyard for a while, or find a good movie for them, set up your living room like a movie theater so they feel special, and won’t leave mid-way through the movie to go and find you to see what your up to.

I mostly wrap while my daughter is at day care on my days off. If she’s with me, I put on a movie I know she loves, especially around the holidays that she will sit down and watch from start to finish with a small bowl of popcorn and i go in my room and wrap. Luckily our hall floors are a little squeaky so I can hear when she is coming and quickly hide them. And sometimes her god mother (my best friend) will come over with her two daughters and they all play together all day and then one of us will come out and make cookies with them while the other finishes the wrapping. Hope some of these ideas help.
