How old is too old to expect Christmas gifts but not give any in return?

All these teenagers conjuring up extensive lists of namebrand items and complaining when their Christmas loot didn’t include every last thing they lusted for – it got me thinking. I know parents and immediate family members don’t expect a gift when kids are young, but at what point is it just considered immature and thoughtless to expect hefty gifts without giving to others in return?

Merry Christmas, everyone!!
I didn’t mean every last teenager acts this way, just to clarify.

    Whenever you get a job.
people should understand students are broke
    they shouldn’t expect gifts though

I started giving christmas presents when i was officially a teen, a few christmases ago. I don’t buy wicked expensive ones, but special, little things that people always enjoy, like soap or something for a collection they have.

I don’t like the way you said “All these teenagers…”.
I’m 18 and I wouldn’t care if I didn’t get namebrand expensive gifts…actually…I didn’t …and I’m just fine. I had a wonderful Christmas just being with my family and friends.
That said….I have always got something for my parents…no matter how small….
But….I would say around 13 or 14….and it also depends on budget and attitude.

I think when they turn 18,,they are adult,s then,,and that,s what has happened to Christmas,,to many wanting the finest
of thing,s and not wanting to give,,if you can’t give
anything of value,,give a smile and a hug.

I say when you get a job because that’s kind of rude to expect gifts from someone who has no way to pay for them.

My kids have always made or bought a gift for me ever since they started school. My eleven year old has her own business and makes plenty of money. When she didn’t make her own money, she made me presents.

I’d say that it would be nice if everyone who got a gift were to give one,but I know that gets expensive. It would be nice if teenagers would at least do something thoughtful for Christmas(It doesn’t have to cost money).I’d say that by the age of 16yrs. old teens should try to do something anything thoughtful for gifts, however if they are unable to that is okay as long as they are thankful for what they get.

Sickening how greedy people are these days.

I would say once you get a job. But then again it also looks bad being 23, in college and cant get even your parents a christmas gift.
