How are you baby-proofing your house with all the Christmas Decorations out?

This past weekend my daughter, 20 months, pulled her stocking off the mantel and the stocking holder hit her in the head, large bump and cut but she’s ok!

So that incident bought to me this question…how are you baby-proofing your home now that all the Christmas Decorations are out?

luckily Jacob is only rolling right now…next year he’ll be 18 months so we’ll see what we can work out. We did get rid of all glass bulbs, so that is a start. Other than the tree everything else is too high for him even next year…I am hoping that next year we can keep him interested enough in other toys so he’ll leave the tree alone.

(I am hoping he’ll be like my cousin’s first child…he never touched anything but his toys.)

Ouch!! Everything is out of our 9 month olds reach. We normally put the tree up in the living room but decided on the dining room this year (our house is pretty open so you can see it from the living room and kitchen). We did that b/c we can put the baby gates up in that room to keep him away from it. My mom told me I should just enforce the word no and carry on as normal. It has obviously been a while since she had a 9 month old!!!!!!!

A lot of the decorations are high up on a counter or shelf. The stockings lay under the tree and she doesn’t have much interest in those. The only thing I really have to worry about are the ornaments. Put most of them on the upper part of the tree and just keep a good eye on the child

its difficult but we managed. we put the glass ornaments higher up and one year tied the tree to the railing by it. I remember a friend of mine put her tree inside a playpen. The baby wanted no part of the playpen so it was kind of a safe place.

Get you one of these! :

I had one with my boys and it is well worth the money, it breaks down in section if you just want to wrap around one side of the tree or pull it out from the wall a little and wrap it all the way around. It’s also great for outside too, because you can re-configure it so many ways and you can buy extensions for it we found countless uses for ours.
