Do airline tickets traditionally go on sale after Thanksgiving?

I could be completely wrong, but I thought that, at least sometime ago, that airlines would have sales for a brief period beginning on the day after Thanksgiving. I could be totally wrong, but I wanted to ask. I am planning a trip from Dec. 19-31, and wow, I know it is close to Christmas, but sheesh!

i really dont think so, might be wrong though. I was always under the impression (especially when holidays are concerned)… the sooner the better! The sooner your order them the less expensive they are. I dont think the “Black friday” holiday discounts apply for airfare…. as a matter of fact, i’d assume they’d get more expensive right after thanksgiving… cuz thats when you realize your parents are pissed off you missed thankgiving, and your mom starts calling twice a day telling you how empty your room looks and how much grandma misses you and …. oh… my bad… you get my point though.

For the period you’re looking at there won’t be any sales for those dates, especially after Thanksgiving. The Christmas/New Year’s period for air travel is probably the most expensive time of year to travel almost everywhere and it’s very unlkely you’ll find a sale, and depending on where you’re going you may have a difficult time finding space available if you wait too long. You’re completely right that you could be completely wrong, I think you had better start shopping for and purchasing your tickets as soon as possible.
