This is typically the first day of the year that many retailers go into the “black”. The term we are in the black refers to making a profit. When a company is in the “red” they are loosing money. Many retailers only make money during this time of year and that income covers more than any loss they have during the rest of the fiscal year.

    Thanks,

    Jason
