Why do so many people get carried away with Black Friday and endanger themselves/others over stuff?

What the heck is this country coming to?? People fighting and killing each other over sales that aren’t really any better than any other time. Black Friday is hard proof that money is truly the root of all evil – everyone is out for themselves while disregarding the safety and respect of others. I am a proud member of the military and it’s an honor to serve my country everyday, but at the same time living and working in other countries has opened my eyes to how society in America has gone down the tube.

first off, thank you for your service. i have a lot of respect and love for our troops. so thank you for that 🙂

to answer your question, ppl are crazy. and at the mention of the word “sale” they jump at it. especially now, being that it’s a recession. on top of that, i think ppl kind of enjoy the whole, “i’ll kill you over this sweater that’s 1/2 off” thing. i know a lot of people that participate in it just so they can tell the crazy stories.

i don’t get it really. like why would you get up early in the morning to give your money away?

Because they are selfish and greedy and have lost the meaning of the Christmas spirit. Imagine what other countries think of us on this day- shopping in the middle of the night and pushing/driving others out of the way for sales. The commercialization of Christmas is a a terrible thing for this country.

The one day of the year I loathe – – – – is Black Friday! I never in all my life seen a whole bunch of half crazed people going wild over a few deals which aren’t even really a deal! Many of us live check to check but we got money for Black Friday! Disgusting. I don’t pay any attention to that day and make it a point not to shop on that day! Hell, there are better deals on the internet.

BTW – I know what you mean about seeing other places where things are different. I don’t travel the world but I have read enough books to see that other countries have their act together. I don’t know what is wrong with America. We have become so morally stupid and tv and sensationalism rules the day in the good ol US of A. It’s a shame!

I don’t shop on this day, but I have made it a tradition to go and video the chaos when the doors open for holiday entertainment!
