When did Cyber Monday become a post-Thanksgiving shopping tradition and a recognized term?

All of a sudden, my e-mail inbox has become inundated with Cyber Monday deals, but I had never heard of the term before. Why is it called this? (Is it because it’s mostly technology deals on sale, or are they online deals only?) And when did this term originate?

    The Monday is refer for the day after black friday and the cyber is refer for online deals. This mean you can shop online on that day and get some great deals like Amazon in this page http://www.amazon.com/b/?node=384082011&tag=cybermonday-deals-20
