What is the chemical process that makes the explosion in a Chinese New Year exploding bomb bag?

I am asking about the exploding “bomb bags” that are thrown outdoors during Chinese New Year parties. They usually have written on them different characters for love, happiness, fortune, and so on. You squeeze them and throw; five seconds later they pop. What causes that?
