How early should I be at a store for black friday sales?

I have never been shopping on black friday before and I want to go this year because of some great sales I’ve seen. I was planning on going to Best Buy and they open at 5am… was thinking about going around 1am… is that too late? Any advice would be very helpful 🙂 Thanks!!!

You may wont to camp out at best buy. Get there around 11pm and be prepared to stay all night. Good luck getting what you want. I would rather pay full price and sleep in my bed where it’s nice and warm. I hate black friday.

By 1 AM, the line has already snaked around the Best Buy store. At least in my place, Los Angeles County, California. Lining up at 11 PM isn’t gonna do any better as the line has already went through two corners. Most electronics stores have a shitload of people lining up pretty early. Compared to most clothing stores who mostly have a discount that extends to all merchandise (% off and such), electronics stores usually put a small list of “doorbuster” items that attract the crowd so they can come to the store to buy other items that aren’t in discount.
Specifically, Best Buy gives doorbuster tickets to the first, and thus, earliest in line. They might just stop by Thursday afternoon and pass the tickets to the people camping in line. These guys not only get to go in FIRST, they have the best items RESERVED for them. So if you don’t get a ticket, you don’t get the hot demand item you wanted. By 6 AM, most of the Black Friday items are probably gone, save a few left in inventory POSSIBLY.
