To be honest, They all try to make their own rally by riding their motorcycle all together. I did that too when I was in Indonesia. We also set a bunch of firecrackers.

The New Year for most Jakarta citizens are celebrated at home with family and friends, some go to Ancol and other points of interests to watch the fireworks, some go to the main street and drive around honking their cars/motorcycles and make a lot of noises, and some go to hotels for live shows at cafes and lounges.
I suppose it’s almost the same everywhere in the world.
For Chinese New Year, the Chinese citizens of Jakarta usually celebrate the night before eating together with family/friends, and on the day of the new year, family members visit one another for exchanging of red packets.

Well, just doing some rally to the street and honking horns, paper trumpet, fireworks, and possibly going to a higher ground and eating baked corn.
